Dallas City Pride Celebration

Plans are well underway in Dallas City in preparation for a grand celebration that will commemorate the town's 150th Anniversary (1859-2009) and will take place in July 2009.

In recent months many citizens have come together and the group has been named "The Dallas City Pride Celebration Committee".

The Pride Committee will host a smaller celebration this May 17th and 18th.

Raffle tickets are now being sold with the prize being both a girls and boys 24", 15 speed bicycle which will be drawn for May 17.

Schedule of events for this years celebration:

Saturday, May 17th

7 A.M.  Register for Kids Fishing Tournament - Recreation Park

8 A.M.  Kids Fishing Tournament - Recreation Park.  Free hot dogs, etc. along with awards for participants following the tournament.

9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.  Sacred Heart Alter & Rosary Society indoor bake sale at the Dallas City Bank Branch of Fort Madison Bank & Trust.  All proceeds go to the Dallas City 2009 150th Celebration fund.

9 A.M. to 5 P.M.  Flea Market and Craft Show - 4th St. and Elm (inclement weather - site of former Methodist Church)

2 P.M. Kids parade - starts at Lincoln Park and goes to Ike's Place

3 P.M. Kids games hosted by WCAZ - 4th and Elm by the tennis courts

3:30 P.M. Drawing for Bicycle Raffle and annoucement of Kids' Parade winners for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes.

5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Fish Fry - Hagy's - 4th and Oak St.

Dusk - Lighted Boat Parade - City boat docks East to Oak St. and back.
